Wherever I've been, whatever I've done,
I've never stopped to think,
So whenever there's a question, things get a little less certain,
I'm not prepared for it.
But it's always been there.
The truth is I needn't have cared or invested my time,
In the search for meaning like I did.
I sought an answer, some validation,
I needed solid ground.
But why would I look from now on for a place I can stand proud on,
Which simply can't be found?
Yet I'll still be here in a week or a month or a year,
If you'll ask me to stay and keep you company,
So ask me, please.
Are you the one I should keep holding tight,
Until the end of the movie's in sight,
Until the world is no more?
Do I have a person reserved just for me,
In a world full of uncertainty,
Or am I clutching at the finest of straws?
I can be happy, and have a good time,
But it takes a little more.
The trick is to keep veering from uncomfortable feelings,
Which drag me to the floor.
It takes some getting used to, but eventually you'll see me prove,
To the world I can stifle the thought we're just here, year by year.
I understand now, I've been abandoned,
By no-one after all.
We're searching for distraction with love, drugs, and religion,
When we could just face the wall.
But I have a plan.
It's not much but it lends us a hand in the fight,
With a lifetime we have to endure evermore.
Are you the one I should keep holding tight,
Until the end of the movie's in sight,
Until the world is but a dream?
Do I have a person reserved just for me,
In a world full of uncertainty,
Or is this just my strategy?
Jamie O'Brien is a multi-instrumentalist who writes and records upbeat, uptempo, acoustic guitar-based folk-punk pop songs about love, lust, loss, and life.
This album has glorious harmonies and some inspirational guitar picking, not to say anything of the beautiful lyrics and melodies. Sleepy, old-fashioned folk that makes me wish I was born American. Jamie O'Brien
